We provide information on topics relevant to older people. We will talk you through enquires, providing information and guidance on the options that are available.
These might include using Age Concern Bexley services, contacting other agencies, and/or receiving literature such as our wide range of Fact sheets. We also have specially trained staff and volunteers who give individual guidance on the financial benefits that are available and assist people to complete the relevant forms. Welfare Benefits Advice
We have trained volunteers and staff that will provide guidance about the welfare benefits available for older people.
This service is supported by Bexley Council and the Big Lottery Advice Plus Programme
Information Advice Service
On issues relevant to older people, also providing guidance on available options.
Day Centres
We provide this service through Bexley Social Services, for housebound older people.
Supporting carers
This scheme has a team of volunteers that provide regular sits with the person being cared for while the carer takes a break.
Rendezvous and parlours
Venues that provide opportunities to socialise, make new friends and partake in various activities and events.
Community Support
This service assists older people to remain in his or her homes, live with dignity and make choices about their lives.
Toenail Clipping
Provides assistance to older people to cut their toenails.
Free wheelchair loan
Available for short-term loan for up 1 week (subsequent weeks are charged at 10.00 per week).
Handyperson Scheme
We carry out necessary minor repairs and adaptations for older people. This service is available to anyone who is over the age of 60.
Hairdressing at home
We keep a list of hairdressers, who have agreed to work within our code of practice.
Gardening
We keep a list of gardeners, who have agreed to work within our code of practice. There is a set and reasonable charge for this service.

Advocacy Service
Our Advocacy Service takes action to support older people in expressing what they want, securing their rights, representing their interests and obtaining the services they need.
One Stop Shop
Within Bexleyheath's Central Library, The One Stop Shop should be the first port of call for guidance and available options on any issue an older person might be experiencing.
Befriending
Our Befriending Service aims impact on the isolation and loneliness that many older people suffer. Each of our trained volunteers is assigned to a befriendee. Befriending can take place in three different ways, depending on the client needs, which are realised via an assessment.
